French coloured ambrotype, representing a man sat on a chair. Size: 22cm x 15 cm (with the frame). Delicately coloured image. Exquisite work. Rear side has never been opened, in spite of its deterioration. Frame is in good condition and the floral decoration has not suffered much.

Original glass has been cracked, quite surely due to a thermal shock.

Piece of work made by the Leroux house, France (uncomplete address, covered by the original craft paper): “56, Rue Sainte Catherine, vis-à-vis la Rue Guiraude” (address the porter). Most probably in Paris.

Ambrotypes are less frequent than daguerreotypes, due to their ephemeral essence.
